The Lord uses our "desert" experiences to peel away our masks so that we may discover who we really are. With our strengths and weaknesses vividly exposed, we are more prepared to stand humbly before God than we otherwise would. It is at this stage of nakedness that the Lord performs some of His best refining work in our lives. (See Exodus 2:21-22)
